Schutzhund

The Lamorinda Working Dog Club is a USCA sanctioned club located in Orinda, California. We offer two trials annually and welcome all breeds. LWDC is dedicated to protecting and preserving the German Shepherd Dog’s temperament through the sport.

Schutzhund was originally designed to assess the breed’s overall character, work ethic and nerve. Initially a test solely for the GSD, it eventually became an aptitude test for all working breeds. It is considered the triathlon of dog training. It consists of three phases; tracking, obedience and protection, which are all weighed equally; each phase counts for 100 points in a 300-point system. The sport focuses on the relationship between dog and handler while evaluating the traits of working animals who are more useful and happier companions to their owners.

DogMastery offers private sport training throughout the week and club environment training on the weekend.  Whether you’re preparing for a club, regional, national or world event, DogMastery can help!
